Easy and effective?
Almost sounds too good to be true, right? If it were any other “latest” skin care product on the market I might have thought so too.
But when it comes to traditional Japanese beauty secrets I’m all ears…and we thought you might be too. So when we stumbled across the Konjac Sponge we knew we had found something special!
The Konjac Sponge is a skin care staple of Japan – a naturally-derived beauty tool renowned for its gentle texture and cleansing properties. The konjac fibres used to construct the sponge are derived from the root of a Konjac Tree, one that grows in abundance throughout East Asia.
The Japanese have been using Konjac for its medicinal and nutritional properties for centuries, due to the fact that the root contains high concentrations of vitamins and anti-oxidants that nourish and protect the body. It was only recently – in the last 100 years – that the Japanese began including Konjac as part of their daily skin care regime, realising its super-nourishing and protective benefits also replenish skin cells and fight premature ageing.
Perhaps our favourite part of the Konjac Sponge is the sheer simplicity of using it.
Whether you choose to apply cleanser or just use water to wash your face, all you need to do is rest your sponge in warm water for five minutes prior to use. Once it is soft, gently squeeze out any excess water and rub it on your face in gentle, circular motions. Not only will this gently exfoliate your skin and remove any other pollutants from your face but it will also refine the texture of your skin and contribute to an overall healthier and brighter looking complexion.
