Make Your Bath A Quick And Easy Detox Ritual

When we think of detox we often think of expensive juice cleanses and exclusive retreats. Fortunately those aren’t our only options when it comes to ridding some of the toxic load we bear throughout our day. Whether it be our make-up, shampoo, the food we eat or the air we breathe, we are rarely taking in what nature intended. Unfortunately these toxins that we do come into contact with will accumulate and can often present some dizzying symptoms such as illness, fatigue, fogginess and skin issues just to name a few. But never fear – no juice cleanse is near, nor needed, you might just need a bath.

That’s right, the humble bath may just the answer to your detoxifying prayers. And the best part is it’s so simple you can do it every night if you wanted! A detox bath is similar to a Epsom Salt bath, however it contains specialised ingredients targeting common problem areas in the body. Our favourite blend is the Detox Bath Salts by our friends at SkintoxContaining nothing but all natural super-plants such as Blue Mallow, Epsom Salts, Magnesium, Rosemary Leaf, Lavender Oil, and Lemongrass Oil, these salts transform any regular bath into a relaxing and rejuvenating detox ritual.

While the sulphates in Epsom salt help flush toxins and heavy metals from the cells, easing muscle pain and helping the body to eliminate harmful substances, so too does the Magnesium – enhancing the effectiveness of this ‘toxic’ flush and the relaxation of muscle aches and pains. These two ingredients alone make for a potent bathing ritual, but it isn’t without the addition of the super-herbs and essential oils that the Bath Salts reach their full potential.

Rosemary Leaf for example is also a fantastic detoxifier. In fact, studies have shown how supplementing with rosemary greatly enhances your body’s bile flow – which is essential for fat metabolism and detoxification – and reduces plasma liver enzymes linked to type II diabetes.

Similarly, Lemongrass Oil has been used as a detoxifier in several countries, known to work effectively as a diuretic, flushing harmful toxins out of your body and cleansing the digestive tract, liver, kidneys, bladder, and pancreas.

Lavender Oil on the other hand is well known for its antimicrobial properties and has been used for centuries to prevent various infections and combat bacteria. This is because more than 100 studies have shown that the antimicrobial commands of lavender oil speeds the healing of burns, cuts, scrapes and wounds.

With just a few shakes of the Skintox Bath Salts it seems that your daily, weekly or indulgent bath can quickly transform into your very own, private detoxifying soak. Incorporate some candlelight and a good book and you just might have found your very best “unwinding” ritual yet.
