3 Tips To Tackle Adult Acne

When you were in high school we bet waking up with a huge pimple on your face meant you'd spend half the morning trying to cover it with concealer and wind up late for homeroom! Plus clog your poor skin some more!

While for some of use those days are now few and far between, it's common for women with mature skin to begin breaking out.

The questions is, why is this happening outside of our teens?

Well, dermatologists don't really have an answer to this as the reasons behind why we may be experiencing adult acne can range from hormones, stress, fatigue, health and even family history.

Acne is so different as an adult because our skin is more fragile and drier than in our teens and the pimples tend to be deeper, more painful and last longer.

You may also find that they come up around your jawline, chin and neck, all areas that may leave you feeling self conscious and lower your self esteem, but we've got 3 tips to help fix that.

1. Make time for yourself!

Take a minute to sit back and assess how you're feeling right now. Are you exhausted and over worked? Have you been struggling to get a good nights sleep? Have you been feeling anxious?

Feeling stressed can lead to excess oil production and hormonal fluctuations as well as impair the skin’s ability to heal.

So if you've said yes to any of these then you should take the time to sit down, plan out your week and prioritise the time to make some retreat time for you.

2. Keep it clean!

During these breakout periods it's important to up your hygiene game to help reduce the bacteria that causes pimples.

So be sure to clean your make-up brushes or sponges after each use, wash your pillowcases weekly and wipe down the screen of your phone to help reduce that nasty bacteria from building up.

3. Create a good skincare routine!

It's important to cleanse your skin every morning and night when you're experiencing acne and apply a nourishing moisturiser (and sunscreen in the AM!).

A good routine using good products can make a huge difference in the quality of your skin!

You may not experience breakouts all the time but when your skin is misbehaving, you'll want to use a product directly on your pimples that's not too oily that you'll break out more and is not too harsh that you'll end up with flaky skin.

Enter the Vayda Organics Blemish Relief!

The combination of oils found in the Blemish Relief oil from our Winter Box are perfect to use on your breakout as the oil helps to soothe irritated blemishes, kills harmful bacteria and reduces inflammation.

Another amazing feature of this organic oil is it also helps to aids in the reduction of the appearance of stretch marks and scarring.

And remember - as you get older, chances are your skin will scar far more easily also, so keeping on top of breakouts becomes far more important. If you do breakout - don't pick, and get onto scar treatment early (which the Blemish Relief Oil can help with).
