#behindthebiz | Delta & Co

Ok, if any of you tell me you haven't heard of Delta & Co inspirational bracelets, my next question is going to be what rock you've been hiding under the last few years...

For the rest of you, I'm guessing most of you have also had a look over the Delta & Co website to choose your favourite inspirational or empowering quote. Some of my favourites include: Memento Vivere (don't forget to live), I Am The Storm, and Be The Change You Want To See. Pretty great, right?!

We had a chat to Pinar Parry, founder of Delta & Co, who is incredibly honest, real & inspirational. And you might just be surprised at where she wants to take Delta & Co over the next few years...

Tell us a bit about the people behind your company

The business is run by my husband and I full time from home!

I create all the products and stories behind the bands and my husband handles all the messy tech and operational stuff.

We are a great team because our skills complement each other!

What inspired you to start your company and when did you start it?

I was inspired to start Delta & Co at the end of 2015 after going through a difficult year and a period of personal growth. I began reading self-help and personal development books to solve my problems and learnt so much that really changed my life. I wanted to create a product I could wear as a daily reminder of the good ideas, nuggets of wisdom and truth bombs that I had learnt. So in mid 2016 I launched the Delta Band, our signature bracelet designed to be worn as a reminder to live with passion, purpose and strength, everyday.

What would an ‘average day in the life of’ look like for you?

I get up before everyone else in the house at 5am, have a coffee and sit outside on my deck reading emails and catching up what’s happening in the wider world. I then get my 3 children ready for school and day care which is a crazy flurry of activity. Arriving home from drop off I usually either go for a swim in the lap pool, or head to the gym for an hour workout. I would then get as much work done on the business until school pick up at 3.30pm. Back home I will then sporadically work until 5pm, and then try and focus on family time. After all the chores our done and the kids go to bed I will relax with a book.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Purpose – achieving my goals in all the main areas of my life – health, wealth, love and happiness. I am a pretty self-motivated person and always striving to change my life for the better. It’s just how I am wired!

What is your favourite product in your range?

My favourite product is “No One Is Coming To Save You”. It reminds me daily that if you want an amazing life it’s 100% up to you. There is literally no one coming to save you – to help you make money, to solve your relationship problems, to make you healthier, fitter or stronger. To make your life better. Every time I look at this bracelet it puts a fire under my rocket, and gets me moving quickly and taking bold action. It’s blunt and to the point, but that’s how I roll!

What is an interesting way of using your products that not many people would know about?

You can use your Delta Band as a tracker! Write a list of actions you need to do daily that will move you towards your best life, and every-time you complete something on your list swap your bracelet onto the other wrist. It’s serves as positive reinforcement and strengthens the new habit of being disciplined and dedicated towards your goals. When I am extremely focused on my dreams and creating new habits I use the bracelet this way and it’s amazingly effective.

What have been the biggest trials so far in starting and running your company?

The biggest trial so far has been juggling family life with growing a business. Earlier this year I had my third child and my husband had just quit his FIFO mining job to help me on the business. We had so much pressure to grow the business as well as the demands of a newborn and two older children who need time and attention too. Things are a lot easier now, but we did reach breaking point a few times earlier this year.

What is your favourite way of winding down and taking time out?

I love the outdoors and exercising in some way as a way to wind down. Swimming or going for a hike are my favourites.

Here at Retreat Yourself, we LOVE dreaming BIG - what is your vision for your company?

I have big dreams for Delta & Co. For us it was about so much more than just beautiful jewellery with inspirational messages, but a building a full-blown personal development company. I would like to also write some books, creates courses, run events and cool stuff like that. Stay tuned!

For anyone out there wanting to start their own business, what would your biggest piece of advice be?

Oh this is a great question. Most people would say “do what you love” but there is so much more to consider when deciding on a business idea to pursue.  You need to obviously be interested in a topic, but it also needs to intersect two other important areas – your strengths and your background. Some questions to ask yourself are, what are you passionate about? What skill or attribute do people continuously compliment you on? Is there an area or topic that you are drawn to because of something that happened to you in your childhood? Find the intersection of the above and you might be onto something!  This is extremely important because building a business requires a lot of energy and you want to be able to sustain interest and stamina for the long term.

And lastly, what does a fulfilled life look like to you?

Having the freedom to travel, pursue my dreams and make a difference.
